What did I read (and finish) this week? Look below to find out.

I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest (2015). Cherie Priest’s first young adult book follows May, a teenager who has just learned that [SPOILER ALERT] her supposedly dead best friend is actually alive, creating a mysterious web comic, and running from the man who kidnapped her. It’s a really fun book that I absolutely loved reading though Kali Ciesemier’s illustrations and comics were what really drew me in. The writing itself is a bit clunky, but the plot and characters were interesting and engaging. Recommended for comic fans and young adult book readers.

The Princess and the Pony by Kate Beaton (2015). This is Kate Beaton’s first children’s book, and it follows Princess Pinecone as she deals with her first ever horse – which is round and fat and dumb and doesn’t do anything. It’s a really cute little book that I absolutely loved. I will probably by it for myself soon.

Bird Witch by Kat Leyh (2014). This graphic novel follows the friend of Nina, a young witch, and Tali, a cute tengu. They play together, fly together, and even solve problems and battle evil witches together. While the art is not as mature as Kat Leyh’s most recent work, it is still rich and gorgeous, and the story is great fun. Another recommendation.
